Felines on the Move

Dec 2012 - Jan 2013

We boarded the cats at the vet in Arcadia while the movers packed us up and loaded the truck. We picked them up first thing Wednesday morning and hit the road to a chorus of cat complaint - click for audio below. (05 December)

When we moved in, the boxes stacked in the kitchen made it difficult to turn around. Merry takes advantage of them to look over Mr. Lubin's shoulder while he prepares dinner. (13 December)

Pippin "helping" flatten packing paper. (14 December)

Tillie finds an out-of-the-way spot to take a nap - with one eye open. (14 December)

Merry on top of boxes in the dining room with the stained glass cubboard in the background. I think Merry gets shown in these shots more than Pippin because the camera has a challenge with Pippin's all-black coloration and the fact he (Pippin) is in constant motion. (16 December).

Merry observing the doings in the kitchen from the "cat passage". He sits beside one of the Moravian stars that I used as Christmas decorations on the front porch (17 December).

This is better than television! Merry watches the laundry go round in the new washing machine. The dryer was not yet functional, needing to be connected to the vent. I took the wet laundry over to Dar's apartment and ran it through the dryer there. The following week, the dryer was connected to the vent in a temporary mode so we had a fully functional laundry just after Christmas (22 December).

Merry making himself a nest in the packing paper. We flattened all the packing paper used in the packing - although tedious, it made sure nothing small was missed, and it conserved a lot of space (23 December).

The favorite afghan was unpacked and immediately was claimed by the feline contingent (23 December).

Pippin high in my closet in the guest room. Mr. Pippin has no hesitation to scramble up your back, using hind claws as necessary, to achieve a perch on your shoulders, which is frequently a stepping stone to other adventures (26 December).

The box springs for our bed wouldn't fit up the stairs, although the more flexible mattress did. I had to order a split box spring for the bed. We ended up using the platform bed in our bedroom. Here, the hobbits are "helping" use get ready to reassemble the bed with the new box springs (01 January).

Pippin checking out a box in the guest room (06 January).

Tillie takes a turn observing the kitchen from the cat passage (06 January).

Merry investigates possibilites that weren't available in the kitchen in Pasadena (08 January).

So, what's for dinner? (08 January).

The hobbits investigating an empty box (13 January).

Merry overseeing the laundry - from the top of the nice, warm dryer (13 January).

I had just unloaded a box with the bed clothes, when Pippin burrowed into the comforter making himself at home (13 January).

There is a fair amount of wildlife in the back yard - birds, squirrels, and rabbits - to keep the cats entertained (17 January).

There's nothing like a fire in the fireplace that says "home sweet home" (20 January).
